House of Six Cats Photography on Etsy!

A dear and talented friend of mine, after many years has finally succumbed to me nagging him to get his work out there, and opened a shop on Etsy to show off his photography work! I introduce to you, House of Six Cats Photography. (and yes, there really are 6 cats!!) Right now there are only a few images up, but you can already get a feel for the type of work he will be filling the shop with! Beautiful black and white images, that would add a touch of class to any wall. Please take a look at the shop! Here are my favorites...(so far)...there are many more!

Modern Art Everyday

First I'd like to apologize for my recent absence, I was at a wonderful wedding in Lexington, Kentucky and we were trapped at the airport for hours on the way home...totally worth every minute tho...8) Friends of ours Jay and Angelia were married on Saturday, July 28th! Congratulations to them! (here's a sneak peek below and then my regular post....)

I came across Modern Art Everyday on Etsy. I am drawn to the clean but organic lines in the pieces, and the earthy colors. My entire living room is painted Kermit the frog green and I know for a fact that these pillows would go with my couch! Take a look at their store, below are my favorites: (there are many more, but I couldn't post half the store here...8)

Cance on Etsy by Kelly McCollum

I found this lovely Esty shop by clicking on one of the newest items on the main page. I was instantly struck by her pencil drawings! You can choose the sizes, and if you send her photos and nicknames of your favorite animal pals, she will transform them into portraits of your best friends! Not limited to those of the canine persuasion...she is willing and able to also sketch cats, birds, gerbils or any other animals that you share your abode with! Please stop by and see Cance's shop, as she also carries some eclectic vintagey jewelry, and a few beautiful digital photos!

The price range for a pet portrait are roughly as follows:

General prices:
4x6" = $10
5x7" = $12
8x10" = $15

A small price to pay for a beautiful portrait of a most loved pet! I am thinking of having a portrait of our boys done:

"Felix"
"Oscar"

(All sketches and artwork property of Cance on Etsy.)

Melissa Moss Paintings

I am always drawn to trees for some reason, every time I am looking for artwork or even just cards...if there's a tree I always have to have it. That's probably why I stopped when I found this next artist Melissa Moss. Her paintings have trees and other botanical elements in them like Venus fly traps, cherry blossoms and ferns. Some of them have a great sense of humor too like the "Snax" print below and the "The Party’s Over" prints. They are detailed yet simple in their form and I found myself going from one to another and quickly viewing almost the entire page. It was hard to choose which ones I wanted to feature here, but I picked some favorites, please take a look at her website or her Etsy Shop to see which are your favorites!

Koch Modern Folk Painting

I found Koch Modern Folk Painting on Etsy, and from the first time I saw the paintings I was enthralled. Each piece to me has a quiet strength...using soft detail and strong forms with an earthy color scheme the artist brings the items to life on a flat canvas. I love the dappling effect and could easily see where these pieces would make a wonderful series on any wall space! Please take a look at the work in his Etsy shop:

Fine Art Photography by Irene Suchocki

I am always looking for new artwork for my home. It seems with every season I want to brighten up my world with pieces for that time of year! And it's so easy to rotate artwork...just take one down and put another up. I came across Irene Suchocki on Etsy and he work is so quiet and other worldly, that it really caught my eye. Her use of not only color, but textures and different focal planes makes your eye travel from form to form effortlessly. Please take a moment to view some of her works. She is an award winning photographer, who has recently been published in Life Magazine. Her Esty shop is a gallery of delightful works!

www.fosterweld.com

I was searching for some Etsy items for my husband and came across some really interesting distressed designs by FosterWeld on Etsy. Everything from belt buckles, to mirrors, to tables, to lighting can be found on their website. There are so many items I would post...pretty much the whole site! But I picked my favorites below.

A lot of the pieces are scratched and dipped in paint, or have paint drips on them. They're really well done, I have seen so many attempts at this style and it's hard to pull it off if you're not careful and really decisive about where you use your color and textures. There's even a pink skull belt buckle...if I wore a belt...I'd have to have it! Please check out the FosterWeld Etsy Store, and the Fosterweld site too...you won't be disappointed!

Shawn Lovell Metalworks

Ok....so I know that this is probably a slightly unusual post, but I came across this bed in my search for furniture, and I was completely and utterly blown away! It's a work of art...for your bedroom. Handcrafted by artisan Shawn Lovell at Shawn Lovell Metalworks who uses "...traditional forging techniques as well as modern welding fabrication to create her one of a kind pieces." She is truly talented and I came across many pieces on her site that I was in love with as you will see below...but the bed takes the cake. If you have a moment, you have to check it out...her work is organic and free and beautiful! Let her know where you found her and check out the site!
